Description

The Iris Nebula (NHC7023) lies 1,300 light-years away in the constellation Cepheus. Within the Iris itself, dust surrounds a hot, young star, causing the blue reflection nebula. The dusty blue petals of the Iris span about six light-years. Further dark nebulae are formed by thick dust, blocking out the light from background stars.
